The majority of my self-directed projects are fundamentally intended to enhance existing skills and/or learn new ones. With this project, my main objective was to create an image which would explore some technical challenges, not to create a character from scratch.
To this end I based this piece on concept art of Katarina from League of Legends and developed techniques for creating believable clothing in Zbrush, learnt how to create stylised hair, and improved my understanding of texturing in Substance Painter.
